A Highly Accessible Neighborhood

Midtown is a district southwest of Downtown Houston and one of Houston’s most accessible neighbourhoods. The neighborhood is a mixed-use district, with plenty of restaurants, bars, and coffee shops minutes away from Midtown homes. Midtown features a wide assortment of affordable home options. Properties in Midtown are a mix of townhomes, condos and lofts, patio homes and single-family dwellings. Midtown resides near Houston’s best retail, entertainment, business and employment hotspots.

A Great Place to Live

Midtown residents enjoy convenient access to schools, retail areas, restaurants, entertainment centers, and parks. Because of its great vibrant street scene, residents have great options right by their doorsteps and are mere minutes away from restaurants, bars, lounges, coffee shops, boutiques, and retail stores. Midtown is home to a number of bars and lounges, including a dog-friendly bar called Saint Dane’s Bar and Grille. Midtown is along Southwest/South Freeway and Gulf Freeway. Residents are therefore well connected to all the surrounding areas and have great access to key areas like the Museum District, Downtown, Galleria/ Uptown area and the world-renowned Medical Center. Apart from having direct access to major freeways, Midtown also has excellent transportation facilities.

Parks and Outdoor Recreation

Midtown has a number of parks within and around the district including: Midtown Park, Elizabeth Baldwin Park, Peggy’s Point Plaza Park and Discovery Green. Midtown is also home to the largest African-American theater company in the United States – The Ensemble Theatre.

Shopping

Though there is a lack of big retail stores in Midtown, the neighbourhood does offer a large variety of smaller stores. Midtown is also, only minutes away from Houston’s world-famous Galleria mall. The Galleria, is Texas’ largest shopping center and fourth largest, nationally. The Galleria has over 400 shops and restaurants beneath its stunning atriums, two high-rise hotels, three office towers and a full-size ice-skating rink. The mall’s anchor stores include Neiman Marcus, Tiffany & Co., Nordstrom, Burberry, Gianni Versace and Cartier Nordstrom and Macy’s.

Education

Midtown is zoned to the Houston Independent School District (HISD). Residents in Midtown are zoned to MacGregor Elementary School, Gregory-Lincoln Education Center (a combined elementary and middle school serving K-8 students), John H. Reagan High School and Lamar High School. Lamar High School is among the best schools in the Greater Houston area and is an IB World School. Midtown is also served by Houston Academy for International Studies – an HISD magnet secondary school, which was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 2014. Midtown also has many notable private schools nearby.

Midtown is one of the most affordable areas of Houston’s Inner Loop. The neighborhood offers a wide variety of affordable home options, including townhomes, condos and lofts, patio homes, and single-family dwellings. Properties for sale in Midtown can start at around $100,000 and can go up to more than $900,000. Midtown has continued to be popular due to affordable homes in the area, upscale condos and lofts, an active civic club, good schools, accessibility and its proximity to key Houston districts like Downtown, Texas Medical Center and the Galleria.
